Jaehyuck Choi (*1994) is a conductor-composer, and artistic director of the ensemble blank.

Lover of paintings, fashion, and smoky whiskey, Choi made his international debut conducting the London Symphony Orchestra at the lucerne festival in 2018 sharing stage with Sir Simon Rattle and Duncan Ward on Stockhausen’s Gruppen, stepping in for Matthias Pintscher at the last minute. Since then, Choi has conducted the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Trondheim Symphony, Pärnu Music Festival Academy Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Festspiele Orchester, Berlin Sinfonietta, Divertimento ensemble, FontanaMix ensemble, Victoria Hall in Genève, Daejeon Philharmonic, Bucheon Philharmonic, Gyeonggi Philharmonic, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, etc.

Choi served as assistant conductor to Paavo Järvi's Korean Tour, Vienna Opera Academy, and guest assistant to Ensemble Intercontemporain.

Sounds come into real life popping out of the paper with his conductor's hand; at the same time, Jaehyuck carves and gives births to lives of new sounds with his pen and paper.

His compositions are being published by the Universal Edition in Wien. The clarinet concerto (2017) gifted Choi the 1st Prize of the prestigious 72em Concours de Genève. Ever since, Choi has been commissioned and his music were championed by groups and organizations such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, Parker Quartet, Menuhin International Violin Competition, Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, VIVO Music Festival, Chamber Music Columbus, Divertimento ensemble, FontanaMix ensemble, SORI ensemble, Tonkünstler Orchester, Daejeon Philharmonic, Gyeonggi Philharmonic, L'Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, etc.

Graduate of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts (HD '13), The Juilliard School (BM '17 | MM '19) and the Barenboim-Said Akademie (AD '23), Jaehyuck makes his home in Berlin where his dreams are, and in Seoul where his angels of the ensemble blank are.

지휘자 겸 작곡가 최재혁 (*1994)

위스키와 소주, 패션, 설치미술과 회화를 사랑한다고 말하는 최재혁은 2018년 스위스 루체른 페스티벌에서 사이먼 래틀 경과 함께 런던 심포니 오케스트라를 이끌며 화려한 지휘데뷔를 가졌다. 취리히 톤할레 오케스트라, 런던심포니, 트론하임 심포니, 경기필하모닉, 부천시향, 대전시향, 루체른 페스티벌 아카데미 오케스트라 등과의 연주에서 호평을 받은 그는, "음악 앞에 겸손하고 오케스트라의 소리를 풍부하게 만든다" (파보 예르비) 는 평을 받으며 베를린 콘체르트하우스에서 열린 한국 문화원 주최의 한국현대음악축제 객원총감독 겸 지휘자, 파리 앙상블 앙텡콩탱포랑 객원 부지휘자, 파보 예르비 한국 투어 부지휘자, 루체른 페스티벌 지휘 펠로우, 예르비 아카데미 지휘 펠로우, 비엔나 오페라 아카데미 부지휘자를 역임했다. 또한 쿠세비츠키 지휘 콩쿨 파이널리스트, 프린세스 아스트리드 지휘콩쿨 세미 파이널리스트에 이름을 올린 바 있다.

2017년 스위스 제네바 콩쿠르에서 클라리넷 협주곡 "녹턴 3번"으로 작곡부문 최연소 만장일치 1위를 차지하며 세계에 그의 음악을 알리기 시작했다. 파리의 앙상블 앙텡콩탱포랑, 캐나다 밴프 음악제, 파커 콰르텟, 경기필하모닉, 메뉴힌 국제 바이올린 콩쿠르 등에서의 위촉과 연주 러브콜을 이어가고 있는 그는 "색과 움직임, 에너지를 음악으로 절묘하게 표현해낸다" (마티아스 핀처), "이미 그의 언어를 완성해 나가고 있다" (요르그 비드만) 등의 찬사를 받으며 2023년 필하모니 드 파리에서 앙상블 앙텡콩탱포랑, 서울 롯데콘서트홀에서 앙상블블랭크와의 세계초연을 예정하고 있다. 그의 작품들은 비엔나 유니버설 에디션이 출판하고 있다.

2015년 한국에서 창단한 앙상블블랭크의 음악감독으로서 한국 관객들에게 새로운 아름다움을 전파하고 있는 최재혁은 미국 줄리어드 음악원 학사, 석사, 그리고 베를린 바렌보임-사이드 아카데미 아티스트 디플로마 과정을 졸업했다.
